Pluses:
Easy install
Large adjustment range
Solid
Smooth
Nice looking
Adjusting mounting range
Cons:
Expensive (worth it, though)
This is a solidly built piece of hardware that looks sharp. Very well thought-out design that should increase your snare's value.
I have a Tama Artwood snare and the stock throw off is pretty dainty and mine warped. The mounting holes are 2.375 inches apart; which is extremely weak and borderline immoral of Tama to put such a disposable and hard to find size strainer on such a nice drum. Enter the Dunnett Gibraltar throw off. It required some drilling, which wasn't terribly difficult. I filled the hole with washers and a screw. It sounds and looks great. Should last the life of the drum.
