    Comprehensive instructions for raising chickens for eggs or meat.

    This is the first edition, published in 1995, of Gail Damerow's Guide To Raising Chickens. I prefer it to the second edition which was updated and published in 2010. In this book you will find lots of comprehensive instructions for raising chickens from eggs, or newly hatched chicks (both available by mail) or a flock with rooster(s) and chickens who breed. Damerow includes instructions for incubating, providing heat and enclosures, feeding, housing, and avoiding problems for your chickens. She also lists poultry health problems, parasites, diseases, behavior problems, and remedies. Damerow includes instructions for caponizing a rooster, but mentions that this is illegal in most states for anyone but a licensed veterinarian to perform.
