Good inexpensive radio
I set this radio up as a scanner to monitor my local fire department pages. We are switching over to DMR and had to turn in our radios for reprograming. This was very cheap so I decided to try it for the transition. It works surprisingly well. I have never tried to transmit on it and there are fewer agencies that are using FMR but it works well on our paging frequency and on NOAA weather frequencies. A Real Gem
A brilliant little radio. Easy to carry, easy to use. I found adding a mike/earphone also made it easy to understand and be heard over loud background noise. Easy to program from the keypad, although the small manual included was useless. I really like this little radio.... Love how solid it feels and the speaker is real clear. my primary use is monitoring active frequencies but have them ready to go in case of an emergency. Solid little radio for the price.
But the instruction manual didn't really say how to program it, so I'm having to push the numbers to enter the frequency I want. I intended to screw on a coax cable to hook it up to a bigger antenna for longer range, but Radio Shack doesn't have any couplings to fit it, so the rubber duck antenna will have to do - it's just less than I anticipated.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Great travel radio.
This is my second Uv-5R. I pack it for trips and air travel. Software is straight forward and battery life is better than most. These radios are so cheap to buy you don't fret losing them so much. These radios perform much better with aftermarket antenna. They are geared to perform the best at UHF frequencies. Get the extra life battery. Great radio, great price, go to the web for instructions on how to program
Great entry transceiver. Price means you can buy several, its got a clean signal and can be used as a scanner. The only drawback is you have to find instructions on the web to program and use it if your not used to multifunction keys. Its bad
Worst thing ever bought cant program. Commands in Chinese. Small buttons. Lighy goes off quickly. Instructions are horrible. Wont charge barely after 3 days. Awful dont buy. I answered NO to the above questions changed back to yes ?? Dont know i why cant answer no. Not easy to use no clear signal and hea y although dont know what weight has to do w product. A little complicated to program, but radio performs wonderfully!
I checked that the radio "is easy to use.", which might be a stretch, but I did finally figure it out. I will primarily be using the radio as a scanner for police & fire bands. And once I figured out how to program the channels in, it works beautifully!Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

lightweight

Great little radio
I`ve used this radio only twice since receiving it. It has good receive but I`m a little suspect on transmit. Had a time with the broadband part. It switched from English to Chinese language for some reason. I also noticed that the manufacturer made slight changes so that you can`t use the extended life batteries from the 5R with this unit. Its just enough so the batteries lock won`t work with them. Other than that, I really like it. Now I have to buy 2 more extended life batteries.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
