A Very Personal John Denver Album
John Denver's "Seasons of the Heart" appears to be an entire album devoted to his wife, Annie - produced and released before their divorce but, judging by the lyrics, written when there were problems in the relationship. All but two of the songs are romantic ballads - "Shanghai Breezes" being the one most will be familiar with. Not quite what John Denver fans would expect, but I like the album. All of the songs are well written, well presented. However, they do seem to be very personal, and because of that and subsequent events - the divorce and then John's untimely death - I sometimes feel sad when listening to the album. (Big John Denver fan.) Still, I am happy to have the album. and I do listen to it often.
