Two boyhood friends, Jonathan and Bobby, who grew up together in suburban Cleveland in the 1960s and '70s reconnect in New York's Greenwich Village in the 1980s. Bobby Moves in with Jonathan, who is gay, and his slightly older roommate, Clare. Bobby and Clare fall in love, scuttling Jonathan's plan of fathering Clare's child.
