Released in 1950, ALL ABOUT EVE's power radiates undimmed through the years. The role of aging stage star Margo Channing is considered by many to be the best of Bette Davis's career, as Davis reveals and conceals Margo's vulnerabilities with a skill seldom seen onscreen. Anne Baxter is also marvelous as the subtle Eve, whose glowing enthusiasm masks a cold, calculated ambition. Both actresses garnered Best Actress Oscar nominations, and the film in its entirety took 14 nominations, winning seven of them, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. George Sanders was awarded Best Supporting Actor for his biting portrayal of potent, nasty theater critic Addison DeWitt. Consistently listed among the best films of all time, director-writer Joseph L. Mankiewicz's ALL ABOUT EVE shouldn't be missed; the acting, writing, and directing are unequivocally brilliant.

    One of motion pictures best efforts

    All About Eve is a movie classic. The movie holds the record for most academy award nominations. The characters in the movie imitated the stars personal life. One of Bette Davis's best performances, along with Thelma Ritter, George Sanders, Gary Merrill & Celeste Holm. I gave this DVD as a gift, but still continue to watch in whenever I am in the mood for good theatre.

    "An all-time classic,a woman's picture not just for women"

    this film about the backstage goings-on in the theatre world has got to be one of the most interesting well-written films ever.the dialogue is priceless,some of the best ever written performed to the hilt by an all-star cast headed by Bette Davis and Anne Baxter.Marilyn Monroe shines in one of her first small roles and one can see why she became the superstar of later years

    Bette at her best

    Great film that goes by too fast. Won't review the story line in detail here; IMDB or any other movie review site can give the full analysis. This is a dated piece, of course, but the acting is very good and you do get engaged. I think this is more of a "chick flick," but my husband agreed it wasn't bad. (And there's even a short party scene with a very young Marilyn Monroe.)

    ALL ABOUT EVE DVD CLASSIC FROM 1950 winner of best picture

    I bought the movie because Marilyn Monroe is in it. She has a very small but funny and well done part. Wished there had been more of her. Ended up enjoying the movie very much. It is all about the actors and the deceit that goes on and also all of the egos that compete with each other. Very dramatic and very good!
