Great pattern for stripes and border prints!
I made this pattern when it first came out in the 80's. I made the jumper and the dress.
On the jumper I used a patriotic border at the hem, and my daughter wore it in a fashion show. It was a big hit. Now that my daughter is having daugthers, I tried to locate my copy of this pattern with no success. EBay is great for things like that.
The jumper makes up wider than needed for the size of the little girl, but that just means they can wear it longer. I adjusted the buttons in the back and that worked out well. The skirt is pretty long as well, but shorten it if you desire. I used a contrasting fabric with a border at the hem and along the bodice. This jumper is really easy for the little one to wear since it has such wide shoulders. This pattern was smartly designed as well. The bodice facing is cut with the underarm facing, eliminating bulk at the underarm seam.
I made the dress out of an Alexander Henry bear print. I added red grosgrain ribbon along the bodice and tied a big grosgrain ribbon in the front, which I attached with a brass safety pin for easy laundering. I added red piping along the bodice front and back and at the sleeve and collar. Adorable! I highly reccommend this pattern, if you can find it!
