Director Sam Raimi, who later directed 'Spider-Man,' released 'The Evil Dead' to unsuspecting audiences in 1981. Stephen King called it, "the most ferociously original horror film of the year," and it subsequently became a cult classic, gaining a legion of fans. The 1998 VHS release preserves all the gruesome gore and sight gags that made the film a hit, allowing horror fans and movie buffs to experience the movie on the original medium of videotape.
