Nearly two decades after the cancellation of the original STAR TREK television series, creator Gene Roddenberry launched the first of what was to be four phenomenally successful spinoffs with STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION. Set in the 24th century (nearly 100 years after the stewardship of Captain Kirk), the series introduced an all-new cast of intergalactic travellers exploring the farthest reaches out of outer space on a mission to chart new planets and alien civilizations. Ship commander Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) anchored the crew of the Starship Enterprise-D with a sensitive reserve that marked a distinct contrast to his trigger-happy predecessor, whose role was assumed by the Kirk-like second-in-command, William Riker (Jonathan Frakes). Rounding out the cast were the Spock-like android, Data (Brent Spiner); blind officer, Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton); Klingon officer, Worf (Michael Dorn); ship doctor, Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden); her teenage son, Wesley (Wil Wheaton); and psychic psychiatrist, Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis). Considered one of the best STAR TREK spinoffs for its intelligent writing and superb sci-fi special effects, THE NEXT GENERATION lives on in cult fandom with this complete collection of episodes from the series' debut season.

    Gotta love TNG, plus this is a good price!

    I’ve checked out TNG videos before, but they were crazy expensive. Finally, they’ve come down an affordable price. Delivery was fine also.

    Star Trek Next Generation First Season

    Interesting story lines in beginning the space adventures of the Enterprise with Captain Picard commanding the ship- has relevance for our day- from Q to Black Goo and other life forms, halodeck room, death of a major crew member, reappearance of Picard's long lost love, and Earth's parasitic invasion. Currently on Season 2 and can't wait to watch all the seasons!

    Return to the Final Frontier

    Following up on the success of the first five Star Trek movies, Paramount brought the voyages of the Starship Enterprise back to the small screen in the form of Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) with a new starship and a new cast set some 70 years further in the future than the original 1960s series. This initial DVD release of TNG is attractively packaged and the discs are well protected. If you enjoyed TNG back in the during its first run on television from 1987-1994, you'll love having the series at your fingertips to relive all the fun. Having just acquired the first season at a thrift shop, this lot of seasons 2-7 was perfect for me to complete my collection at an attractive price.

    Entertaining entry in the Star Trek story line

    It is Star Trek so it is always good. Acting is a bit stilted in the first season as the characters are finding their way andcthe writers try to escape recycling the original series story lines.
