As the angels discuss George, we see hi life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence then shows George what his town would have looked like it if hadn't been for his good deeds over the years. Will Clarence be able to convince George to return to his family and forget about suicide?The Bell's of St. Marys:Bing Crosby recreates his Oscar-winning (Best Actor) role as parish priest Father O'Malley, who is sent to revive the financially ailing parochial school. The easy-going O'Malley is immediately at odds with no-nonsense Sister Benedict (Ingrid Bergman in a Golden Globe-winning performance) on how to educate children. Beyond their delightful battle of wits lies a bigger problem. The skinflint businessman next door wants St Mary's condemned and only a miracle can save it now.
