Access and share whatever you want, with any device, anywhere you have an Internet connection. With Dual Drivers that are set to RAID 1 Mirror Mode, this unit will automatically give your data two times the backup protection by duplicating all your centralized content.And speaking of automatic, you can even set it to automatically back up all the files on your various computers and handheld devices. This is particularly useful for mobile devices with limited capacity to store data because now you will have the ability to expand each one's storage capacity by an extra shared 2 terabytes. The unit supports a variety of apps and services as well. For example, you can use it to connect to your Dropbox account or your iTunes library. What's more, you can even stream music, photos, and movies directly from the unit to your various connected media players, TVs, gaming consoles, and other streaming instruments.The My Cloud Mirror unit has a software app for both Windows and Apple devices. It uses WD SmartWare Pro for PC backups and Apple Time Machine for all Mac users. Supported browsers for this unit are Google Chrome 31.0 or later, Firefox 29 or higher, Internet Explorer 10 or higher, and Safari 6.0 or higher on supported Mac OS and Microsoft platforms. System requirements for using this device are either Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10, or Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, or El Capitan operating system.The unit uses a Gigabit Ethernet interface and USB 3.0 expansion port to connect and comes with its own Ethernet cable. It also comes with an AC adapter. To use with USB 3.0, a USB 3.0 host and certified cable will be required. Using it also requires a router for an Internet connection, and if you desire streaming, then at least one DLNA/UPnP device is necessary.The unit dimensions are 6.7 inches by 5.5 inches by 1.9 inches, and it weighs 2.12 pounds.     Can't speak highly enough about the service! The TL;DR here is, this seller is fantastic. I had purchased one of these previously from someone else who said the toy was unopened, only to discover there were several pieces missing.     Easy to use NAS for remote access

    I use this NAS as off-site backup and it works fairly well. I live in Las Vegas and have it plugged it to my brother's network in his home in Maryland. Setup was a breeze. The WD My Cloud software allows you to upload entire folders of files at once, which is a feature the My Cloud website lacks. It's quiet. It uses minimal power. The only downside is that Western Digital's online service goes down now and then. In the last month it has gone down twice, but at least they get things working again within two or three days. I worry about the long-term viability of the product if Western Digital ever abandons the service, but for now this product is great for off-site backups.

    More than Adequate

    The unit is quite simple and easy to set up. The software is also relatively easy to set up, but can be tricky when you are using both PCs and MACs. It has not interfered with the wireless router and I am able to use other units while downloading to it. It does take a long time (12 hours or more) to copy files via the Internet. It is even slow downloading with a direct hook-up. All told, it is a good unit, it is inexpensive and the files are stored right in my home, not off site with someone I don't know nor never have seen. I would recommend it.

    Glad I bought it

    The NAS is in operation now using it to back up all the important things in one private directory and multimedia in another directory. The other computer has access to the backed up things for its' use. The tablets & smartphones have access to the multimedia along with the TVs through Tivo/Plex. Some of the WD software seemed a bit confusing. I didn't use much of the software from WD other than to marry the NAS to the network. Their software didn't offer what I needed to backup and organize the multimedia. I have used a very good diverse backup/sync program for years called Goodsync. The drive is quiet and works quite well. The only fault I had with the whole deal was that the drive was packed in the right size box but the drive was flopping around loose in the box due to ...

    Nice, easy to use

    It was easy to set it up as a backup for my Linux system, accessing it via SSH. I created a folder on this drive and mounted it on the Linux system, and have set up cron jobs for daily backups. It is quiet, easy to use, relatively low cost, and provides lots of storage (2 terabytes). I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, because it feels like it is in a plastic case. Plastic is a thermal insulator, and so it likely won't run as cool as it would if it were in a metal case (metal is a thermal conductor). Because lifespan of electronic and electromechanical devices is a function of temperature, I expect that the typical lifespan of the drive will be reduced somewhat in comparison to what it would be if it were in a metal case.     Not simple

    When setting up be sure to read and read again. Check the wdcloud forum to see issues with it. In my case it works but I am still learning how to connect devices to it to push media so I can not blame it all on the cloud. I have set up a friend to use it remote, still testing. I have notIf I were to do it again I would have opted for a more high end device and added hard drives. Don't buy this if you expect a plug and play experience. My set up is the cloud is plugged into a router running dd-wrt. Laptops, Nvida Shield, connect wireless. Be sure to DYOD before buying.
