"Easily the most intriguing piece in the book is Tolkien's famous essay 'On Fairy Stories,' in which he lays out his beliefs about creating 'secondary worlds' and explores the history, power and importance of stories some demean as 'escapist.'...Tales From the Perilous Realm...reveals intriguing, little-known facets of Tolkien's vast imagination." -Daily Camera (Boulder), "Easily the most intriguing piece in the book is Tolkien's famous essay 'On Fairy Stories,' in which he lays out his beliefs about creating 'secondary worlds' and explores the history, power and importance of stories some demean as 'escapist.'...Tales From the Perilous Realm...reveals intriguing, little-known facets of Tolkien's vast imagination." -Daily Camera (Boulder) --, "Easily the most intriguing piece in the book is Tolkien's famous essay 'On Fairy Stories,' in which he lays out his beliefs about creating 'secondary worlds' and explores the history, power and importance of stories some demean as 'escapist.'... Synopsis
The definitive collection of Tolkien's classic "fairie" tales, in the vein of The Hobbit, illustrated by Oscar winner Alan Lee Never before published in a single volume, Tolkien's four novellas (Farmer Giles of Ham, Leaf by Niggle, Smith of Wootton Major, and Roverandom) and one book of poems (The Adventures of Tom Bombadil) are gathered together for the first time, in a fully illustrated volume. This definitive collection of works -- which had appeared separately, in various formats, between 1949 and 1998 -- comes with a brand-new foreword and endmatter, and with a series of detailed pencil illustrations by Alan Lee, in the style of his other award-winning Tolkien work, most recently in The Children of Húrin. The book is the perfect opportunity for fans of Middle-earth to enjoy some of Tolkien's often overlooked yet most creative storytelling. With dragons and sand sorcerers, sea monsters and hobbits, knights and dwarves, this collection contains all the classic elements for Tolkien buffs of all ages., The definitive collection of Tolkien's classic "fairie" tales, in the vein of The Hobbit, illustrated by Oscar winner Alan Lee Never before published in a single volume, Tolkien's four novellas (Farmer Giles of Ham, Leaf by Niggle, Smith of Wootton Major, and Roverandom) and one book of poems (The Adventures of Tom Bombadil) are gathered together for the first time, in a fully illustrated volume. - t***p (298)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThis book is fantastic! The quality is exactly as described, it’s in great condition, the appearance is clean and basically brand-new, and it came at an excellent price. This is a first-rate, five-star seller that deserves everyone's business. They packaged the book with extreme care, shipped it quickly. This was an excellent buying experience and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this seller again.
- r***r (1942)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufMy DVD arrived on time, well packaged, the correct version I wanted and was in even better condition than described. I have bought DVDs from many Goodwill locations all around the US many times and always a wonderful experience. I highly recommend all Goodwill locations in US as Seller!!
- d***i (305)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letztes JahrBestätigter KaufAmazing customer service! Seller quickly refunded even though I didn’t ask for a refund. What happened was I purchased a used book described as “good” condition (majority of pages undamaged) but I received a book heavily written in in pen on most pages. I took photos and let the seller know, but I didn’t ask for a refund because it’s Goodwill and I considered it a donation. But the seller immediately refunded my money, on a weekend no less. Amazing! Thank you!Piano Adventures - Scale and Chord Book 2 by Faber, Nancy paperback Book (Nr. 186693260510)
