DISTANT THUNDER based on a true story
My dad SSG Jim Nichols special forces Ret. spent countless hours telling his story to one of the screen writers of this movie, It is loosely based on his experiences. I personally watched and listened as he spoke to this screen writer for many hours over the phone. He and members of one of the Veteran groups out of the upper Olympic Peninsula near Port Angeles WA provided much of the back ground such as references to "Kissing the train". I have looked for this version for a lot of years and it makes it so much more valued that it was actually signed by one of the main actors in the movie.
