You can take a trip back in time, and enjoy the retro charm of a classic games console. River Raid for Atari 2600 is a classic vertically scrolling shooter game that can offer lots of excitement and adventure. It can bring the fun of vintage arcade games to your home console and offer hours of gameplay fun. In River Raid for Atari 2600, you control a fighter jet that is on a mission behind enemy lines. Your task is to fly down the river and shoot at fuel depots, helicopters, tankers, jets, and bridges. You gain points each time you destroy a structure or vehicle. Different enemy vehicles and structures have different difficulty levels, and you can earn more points by shooting difficult items. The gameplay does not offer enemy fire, but the game does end if you crash into enemy vehicles, structures, or the river bank. You can use the controller to move left and right, and the up and down joystick controls or the up and down buttons on a button controller let you move your jet either faster or slower. You must pay attention to your fuel supply throughout the game. If you do not regularly refuel your jet, the game will end, and you must start again. Activision originally released River Raid exclusively for the Atari 2600 home games console in 1982; however, the company later released the game for Atari 8 bit, Atari 5200, ColecoVision, Intellivision, MSX, IBM PCjr, and ZX Spectrum systems as well. This Activision product is the original Atari River Raid game for the 2600 consoles, and it is not compatible with other systems. Although the game was banned in some countries upon its release due to the violent content, the content is very tame by modern standards. It is appropriate for a variety of age groups. River Raid for Atari 2600 was a revolutionary game in its time. It was designed to run on the 2600 console, which was one of the first home consoles to contain a microprocessor and use ROM cartridges. The gameplay was innovative, and it was one of the first games to include scrolling, non-repetitive terrain, and unpredictable enemy craft behavior. Although the action is limited when compared to modern console games, it is still a popular title with many vintage gaming fans. The algorithms are sophisticated enough to make the gameplay challenging, offering hours of gaming fun.     overall great experience. the seller clearly knows their stuff and i would gladly buy from them again. disc arrived in good condition and as shown. however getting to a certain stage, the game would stall at the loading screen. i started a refund request, and the seller suggested a partial refund to cover the costs of getting the disc resurfaced. i went to a local game store offering this service, and afterwards it worked again!

    Fun little nostalgic game

    Well it may not have the best graphics in the world compared to modern games you have to remember this game was made in 1982 but for $10 you sure can’t beat it.

    Old School Classic

    In decent condition given the vintage here. The cartridge loaded instantly on my classic CX2600A's. Needed a little "coaxing" to get it running on the 2600+, but ultimately it gave in. :) The gameplay is everything good & bad about early 80s gaming on the bleeding edge of tech. No complaints here - happy to add this to my collection.

    River Raid

    River Raid, originally conceived for the Atari 2600 and heavily ported, was successfully adapted to the Intellivision platform. A perfect blend of strategy and gamers' skill ensure repeat play and retro fun. A relatively expansive game due to its scarcity in the Intellivision platform is a must add for both gamers and collectors.
