For best results, use with WWS Tuft Glue or Basing Glue. The Pro Grass Boxes Applicator can be used for: making grass tufts, flocking trees and adding detail to miniature model bases. Full detailed instructions are also supplied, and we also have tutorial videos available online.
Wish I had purchased this sooner! Even though I've altered it, it is a great bit of kit.
I really like this product and WWS are a great company to deal with. My only dislike was the fact that I had to turn it on at the switch and get my Silicone paper over the box before most of the static grass left the top of the box!
Having only used a static grass applicator previously I was a bit surprised at this. Plus trying to turn the switch off and getting a shock on a few occasions leads to being very careful very quickly!
I've worked with electronics for many years, so I decided to make this work a lot easier for me... I'm sure I've forfeited their warranty doing this - so I'm not suggesting you should do this! but I have included a socket that will take a non latching foot pedal (the same as a piano sustain pedal) Obviously a latching foot pedal will work but for me it makes more sense that if my foot isn't on the pedal it won't be on...
It now works perfectly for me. I turn on the box and If my foot isn't on the pedal there is no current, I put my silicone paper over the box, hit the pedal and it's done. Once my foot is off the pedal there is no current going through to the box and I can safely turn the switch off without a shock. I can even add my next layer without having to turn it off.
This small change has made it easier and more enjoyable to work with - and quicker! and certainly not as much mess to clear up between applications. Maybe this feature could be included in future models?
