The film revolves around Berry's 60th birthday concert given in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, with guest appearances in the concert and the film by Etta James, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Robert Cray, Julian Lennon, and Linda Ronstadt. Other interviews include legendary musicians Bo Diddley, Little Richard, the Everly Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, as well as Bruce Springsteen, Roy Orbison, and John Lennon. A pioneer of the idea of singer as songwriter also, as well as a leader in the infancy of rock 'n' roll, Berry is shown as never before in this revealing, touching documentary.

a pure genius wrapped up in this utterly charming character
The last track of Disc 3 worth its price in gold to behold regarding the genius of this utter character-wish it had been undertaken from the beginning all by black folk but so it goes-still an eye opener about how Chuck was bamboozled from the very beginning but bounced back and would not be gotten down-his warm personality offset being obsessed by the shrill cast of $ vipers from those initial days never left more than a quarter inch behind to the grave...but pure genius has to be the final stroke of the pen of judgement. Back to my opening line...
