Frighteningly Possible !
This book may be fictional, but it can and MAY happen!!! The story follows a retired military man and his 2 daughters, along with mother-in-law as they experience the changes to their quiet country town after an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) disables every convenience of modern life. Gone are every mode of transportation (with few exceptions), food supplies, medicine, water, plumbing (toilets, showers, etc), appliances, air conditioning, and civil behavior. In one second, they are living in a third world country. But the worse is yet to come. The author researched minute details of what could happen, from what members of our society will die first, to what will people eat when all food is gone, to how they will protect themselves. Enjoyed reading this book.
If you want to understand how an EMP or solar flare could effect the way we live, read this book. The characters are plunged instantly into living as if they were in the 1800's. Recent assessment says 90% of population would be dead in 6 months if this were to occur on a large scale. A glimpse into a tomorrow we hope will never arrive
This is a work of fiction showing a military veteran in a small North Carolina town and he and the people he knows are affected by an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). The story is certainly thought-provoking, as the scenario could easily play out for real. I certainly did not pay retail, picking this book up at half price as a used book. Excellent read...frightening because it really could happen.

Very timely topic

Everyone should read this one.
This is a great book that gives many ways to survive a EMP attack, and right now only 10% of the population would survive. What is so sad is that our government is doing nothing to "harden" out power grid in the event of an attack. This will happen, either a sun burst of manmade nuclear high burst blast, we just don't know when or where, but it will occur, and when it does, hundreds of millions will die. I suggest every able bodied American have enough supplies, food, water, meds, sanitation means, multiple cooking means, old CB or ham radios, TP, etc., to get by for at least one year.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Good read
