Why remakes stray from the original story is the mystery here. The only reason anyone would see this new version is because of their love for the one in 1939 directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Margaret Lockwood. Like all remakes, they usually disappoint, and this new version is no exception. The beginning had too many unnecessary scenes, buy the main negative was that Miss Froy's purpose for being kidnapped, or even being on the train was never explained, which was the crux of the original story. Instead, treat yourself to the original Alfred Hitchcock's 1939 The Lady Vanishes starring Margaret Lockwood, Michael Redgrave, and Dame May Witty and you won't be disappointed.
