Operational nightmare.
It is an absolute nightmare to find out which discs will work with it , the manual is hopeless - it goes straight to "bells&whistles" before explaining clearly the basic functions of the machine, i.e. its "raison detre" which is the recording aspect. Even when finally finding discs that the machine will deign to use, it is so contrary it is a joke. The "hoops" one has to jump through because of the "music copyright protection system" which vitrtually negates it's purpose, I say this as an ex- professional recording artist of 50 years, who understands fully why music has to be copyrighted, but the manual does not expressly state this clearly enough. If the manual did state all the foibles of this machine and its usage, it would have zero/zilch sales. So unless you have the "patience of Job and the wisdom of Solomon" don.t go near them.Having said that,it's sound quality is superb - if you can get it to record!!!!. I write this as an owner an owner of many Sony products, I think Sony is an excellent brand, but this unit is a "duffer".

Good value for moneuy.
I bought one of these machines years ago when they first came out. Like all Sony equipment thay are well made and reliable.

not impressed at all
The sound is good but they could have made the buttons lighter rather than black as the whole product because that makes it difficult to identify
