Throw More Brandy!
What a great, rollicking comedy, full of brilliant performances...especially Jack Lemmon's duel role. Peter Falk is hilarious, and Natalie Wood never looked better. The epic great pie fight crowns this comedy gem!

This movie has not aged well.
I remember watching this movie several times as a child, including when it was shown on TV. I very much enjoyed it then; now, not so much. To give credit, it has been digitally remastered, beautiful color and sound, has the original opening slides, and includes the entrée music as well as the Intermission musical interlude. Yes, this is a very long movie (too long by today's standards), and includes an Intermission with music on the DVD. You have to admit, they simply don't make movies like this anymore, with lush scores by the likes of Henry Mancini. I think this movie won an Oscar for sound editing. Or special effects -- which aren't all that great by today's standards. The costumes and cinematography are quite nice, and it is fun to see the "old" cars and contraptions. It is ... It is also fun to see well-known actors from that day doing non-typical roles, especially the late great Natalie Wood. But the story itself is no longer as compelling, humorous, or entertaining as it once was when this movie was new. And it is much too long, and really does drag in places. (Perhaps all of us, of all ages, are just much too impatient than we were decades ago.) As an "historical artifact movie," it is a piece of cinema history. (And I haven't watched the bonus feature with director Blake Edwards yet.) But I'm not sure I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't already seen it, or to children. Such groups would most likely be bored. I'm not sure I will keep this DVD: it might be donated to the local thrift store.

Jack Lemmon makes you laugh every minute and Natalie Wood is at her very best ....This film could not be made in 2019 .. The cost would be 300 million to make , true Epic Film ☆☆☆☆☆

I remember "The Great Race" as being one of the funniest movies I'd ever seen. After several years, the movie, though still entertaining, didn't hit my funny bone the way it once did. I don't necessarily think it's the movies fault, I just think that my tastes in humor have evolved. It was inexpensive, it was entertaining (but to be honest, I was waiting for it to end), and the characters are actually caricatures.I remember "The Great Race" as being one of the funniest movies I'd ever seen. Classic Comedy
The "Great Race" starring Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, and Peter Falk is classic comedy with some romance. I would recommend it for teens and older. It's always the bad guy (Lemmon) versus the good guy (Curtis) with a twist at the end. The family will enjoy this movie.
