Product Information

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello's "grand unifying monster" film and the first in their "Meet..." series, with the two bungling buddies as baggage handlers saddled with the ghoulish remains of Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and Frankenstein's monster (Glenn Strange). But once they arrive at their cargo's destination, a wax museum, the monsters revolt, with plans to purloin and transplant Lou's brain. The Monster is growing weak and his master Dracula has devised the perfect plan to restore his virility. The fat man takes the bait, which is in the shape of a woman. Director Charles Barton easily guides this ambitious effort which is chaotically comic throughout, despite an off-camera foot injury that confined Glenn Strange to a cast and prompted Bela Lugosi to fill in for him in one scene. This was last screen appearance of Universal's Frankenstein Monster, which had been introduced by Boris Karloff. The result is an unforgettable and unique combination of humor and horror.

    Classic wrap-up to a horrifically charged generation.

    The last great effort of bringing the universal monsters out to scare. What it lacks in depth of plot it more then makes up with nostalgic moments of horror in black and white. With a commentary by Gregory Mank, bonus materials, one can get the back story of why and how this film came to fruition way back in 1948. Highly recommended to those that can't get those classic universal monsters out of their craw. By the way, Lugosi is awesome.

    Excellent comedy. Love this movie.

    A special time with 2 of the best slapstick comedians that ever made a movie. We wanted to get more horror movies by this dynamite duo of comedy, but this arrived in time for Halloween, and sufficed very nicely indeed. The talent is obvious, and the jokes never get old.

    The MEET series

    This DVD has it all, the entire series of the 'Meet' movies staring Abbot & Costello, those monsters of Universal Studios come to life again, scaring our two friends out of their wits while providing the rest of us a ton of laughs, these are not 'horror' movies as such but do have some scary moments, even people that do not like horror flicks cannot but help themselves, these films are classics and will live forever, providing generations with sheer fun, a few scary moments but mostly a barrel of laughs unending.     COMEDY VS. HORROR ENJOY!

    GREATEST COMEDY TEAM IN HISTORY AGAINST THE MOST DANGEROUS FICTIONAL VILLAINS EVER. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MOVIE AS A CHILD. NOW MY GRANDSONS WILL BE SCARED AND LAUGH AT THE SAME TIME. I AM SO HAPPY THAT THIS MOVIE HAS BEEN PRESERVED FOR THE DELIGHT OF FUTURE GENERATIONS.
