Synopsis
Gene Kranz was present at the creation of America's manned space program and was a key player in it for three decades. As a flight director in NASA's Mission Control, Kranz witnessed firsthand the making of history. He participated in the space program from the early days of the Mercury program to the last Apollo mission, and beyond. He endured the disastrous first years when rockets blew up and the United States seemed to fall further behind the Soviet Union in the space race. He helped to launch Alan Shepard and John Glenn, then assumed the flight director's role in the Gemini program, which he guided to fruition. With his teammates, he accepted the challenge to carry out President John F. Kennedy's commitment to land a man on the Moon before the end of the 1960s.Kranz was flight director for both Apollo 11, the mission in which Neil Armstrong fulfilled President Kennedy's pledge, and Apollo 13. He headed the Tiger Team that had to figure out how to bring the three Apollo 13 astronauts safely back to Earth.     AAAA++++ SELLER!!!! Book was shipped very quickly and item price was also good. My only complaint is the shipping packaging. This book came loosely placed in a plastic bag so I can't tell if the damage to the dust jacket happened in shipping or it was already in that condition. But, as I already stated, the overall price was good so I shouldn't really complain. Overall, I've had positive experience with hpb-ruby so I'd still definitely recommend buying from them.

Return went successful and great communication about the situation with seller.     Amazing book for lovers of space exploration

    My husband had this as an audiobook and I really wanted to read it too, being a great lover of space exploration and everything associated with it, and being a big fan of Gene Kranz. However, I can never concentrate with an audiobook and wanted a "real" book to read. When I started looking for this book, I quickly decided it would be great to have a book personally signed by Mr Kranz. There were many available on the market, in paperback and hardback, some signed with dedications and some just the signature. What drew me to this particular book, even though the price was higher than a lot of other books available, was the quality. The signature had been authenticated, there was no dedication to someone I didn't know and the photos showed a hardback book that was of extremely good ...
