Overall a good choice for aftermarket.
I got this for my 06 Tacoma to replace the original tailgate handle since it locks. It is a good choice alternative to OEM and overall I am happy with it. Agree with other reviews that the handle of it seems like it could break but as long as you're mindful it should work fine. Watched a YouTube video on install since you have to switch an arm around inside the tailgate and it works great. I bought this "Pop N Lock" manual tailgate lock for my 2013 Tacoma with a "BAKFlip" tonneau cover. The cover was nice to have; however, I felt very uneasy about leaving anything of value in the bed of my truck. I looked up tailgate locks and found this product. It seemed to have the best reviews but I was still pensive about buying it because of the reviews about the quality of the plastic handle. If there were any issues with the quality of the handle either "Pop N Lock" improved their product or my 2013 Toyota decreased their quality. In either case, the quality is very comparable. I am much more relaxed about leaving items in the bed of my truck with the combination of the "BAKFlip" and the "Pop N Lock". This will not keep everybody out! This will just help keep the ... Good except for gasket fit
The lock fits well on my 2011 Tacoma. The installation instructions are very well written. My only issue was with the fit of the OEM gasket on the new lock. The original lock has 6 pins to hold the gasket in place the PopLock only has 3 pins and they were spaced to far apart. The gasket could not stretch to fit. I ended up cutting my own gasket from some left-over roofing rubber I had. The codeable key worked well and was my main requirement for purchase.The lock fits well on my 2011 Tacoma. questionable design
The lock design is a little incomplete. The Drivers side rod is flipped and relocated to work with new assembly. By their design the factory mid rod support is not relocated, this allows the rod to flex witch causes it to not full move the latch and causes the drivers side latch to stick on not work at all. the simple fix is to unsnap the factory mid support / guide drill a hole mid ways along the new rod location, snap in the factory part, no more flex and will work problem free. Just seems Pop Lock would address this problem. This is a manufacture's problem and not the seller, The seller I purchased from on E-Bay was a great seller and would buy from again.
