To view the work of a great artist is, in itself, a soul-satisfying action. To link the work to the idea of creation exercises the mind in ways well beyond our normal day-to-day thinking. To be guided through the process by an artist who has obviously preceded you in those thoughts is soul-satisfying in a way few things are.
Even if you can't pronounce his name, this work is worth a long time in quiet observation, meditation, and reflection on the work of the ultimate Creator.
Of the numerous books Poortvliet wrote, this one blends animals, mankind and humour most. The title is only a pretext to take the reader into the world, ask deep reaching questions about life and its protection. Mr Poortvliet's books are those I'll not part with.
Allows one to ponder just how the ark could have been build. Captions are well presented and the animal paintings are wonderful. Well worth the money. A great coffee table book...
