KTP-445a - Attached to Non-Alpine Radio
I have a first gen KTP-445a (non adjustable gain and no high pass filters) that powers a Sony XAV-AX3000 head unit. You can use any of the KTP amps with any head unit (even pre-2005 Alpine units) as long as you don’t mind cutting the input connectors on the amp and your head unit and connecting the wires manually. This is the third one I’ve owned (only one of which I used a compatible Alpine head unit) and the first one without the gain adjustments. As other reviews stated, this amp is powerful and will make your stock speakers come to life. I was worried that without the gain adjustments and with stock speakers that I’d barely be able to turn up the head unit without it being too loud, but it’s not the case. I wasn’t worried about not having a high pass filter because most head unit have them anyway, and I plan on using full range speakers instead of subs. The stock speakers sound much better than before and it’s not overpowering. However, it is as loud as you’d ever want to listen.

Great Price, Great Sound
Clean and powerful. This mighty little amp is doing exactly as the manufacturer said it would. It was easily installed in/under the dash in a 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ. As you well know there is not much room in these vehicles. And it's small footprint made it an easy install out of sight. During the summer we take the hard top off. So stealth is important. Alpine has always had great sound and quality. I have had many Alpine head units and amplifiers over the years all were great, this is no exception.

Good amp for what it is.
I wanted a "power up" amp for the infinity kappa speakers I was running in my car. This one fit the bill. Plugs right into my Alpine head unit and worked perfectly. It sounds really good for what it is. You will get better sound from a traditional amp but if you are just looking for a power upgrade for a really good price that is a snap to install, this may be for you.
