Fictional tale of history many Americans are not very familiar with.
I read most of the books from this series after seeing some of these episodes on PBS and have enjoyed all of them. The movies are not exactly the same as the books, but considering the time it would take to follow the story line in the books, I think these movies have held true to the stories, while leaving out what was necessary to keep the movie within the set time frame. The stories are interesting, full of action and a development of human relationships, and they loosely follow the history of this war, with fictionalized depictions of significant historical figures. This particular collection of movies includes 2 episodes that are based in Spain, and are full of the action noted above. One episode occurs primarily in England; the action is somewhat toned down, and the politics are more significant, but it is still a good story.

Sharpe series is great for mind numbing afternoons.
It's repetative story writing, but the characters are good.
