Tongue-In-Cheek Marlowe
Marlowe, starring James Garner, is an attempt to capture Raymond Chandler for 70's feature films, not anywhere in the neighborhood of Altman's Long Goodbye made in the same decade--Garner is the glue that holds this rather ramshackle production together, Garner could make anything better just for his being in it--We also get a look at Bruce Lee, for, I think, his first appearance in an American feature film--He's not quite believable, he seems to have crashed (literally!) in from a martial arts film--His manic martial moves in relation to Garner's laid-back cool is actually pretty funny--Unfortunately Bruce comes to an inglorious end early in the film--For the most part, this "mystery" comes off tongue-in-cheek, befitting most Garner films--Rita Moreno gives us a sexy dance and the supporting cast is good.
