Not just an ambisonic mic, but a complete VR sound package
For an ambisonic microphone it's really hard to beat this. The firmware compensates for orientation, and the recorder automatically converts to B-format. Integrates well with desktop software available from the manufacturer, too. The device interface is familiar to anyone who has used a Zoom product in the last decade, but don't let the retro screen fool you. They've clearly made improvements under the hood. Among these are the ability to use the recorder as a USB-powered desktop mic, and to transfer files stored on its microSD card via a USB connection. When you account for all these features and the companion software, it's hard to imagine doing quality VR sound for any cheaper. Great bang for your buck.
Amazing little 360º recorder… especially at this price!
Very interesting audio recorder. Place it on a table in front of a band, and you'll get great separation of the band members AND all the conversations around you. Once you export the file, it may be a bit TOO MUCH background audio for some purposes, but it does what it's supposed to do.
I purchased this solely as an ambient/background audio recorder for a audio book production and am very happy with this product for that usage.
One thing I've noticed, and haven't been able to figure out, is that the audio recordings don't sync up with video from my iPhone. It's way out of sync within a few minutes. Not sure if this is a flaw or something in the file setup but it's not really an issue for my intended usage.
Decent quality, easy to use.
Now if there was an updated version of this with additional microphones, and 32-bit or 64-bit recording, I would be sold on it.
