Product Information

Channel your inner Luke and Bo and escape from Boss Hogg, Cletus, and Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in this MPC 1/16 replica scale of "The Dukes of Hazzard" 1969 Dodge Charger. For the millions of fans of the TV show, this car is affectionately known as the General Lee. MPC was able to replicate even the finest details of the burnt orange muscle car in its replica. The design is so intricate that all model car enthusiasts will want to build it. The first replica scaled kits from MPC were so successful that they introduced a "Round 2" series. This updated plastic scale building kit is suitable for fans aged 12 and up. It is rated at a skill level 3 and should take about 30 minutes to assemble fully. Finely detailed plastic pieces of the Charger are molded in white and bright chrome, and the V8 engine is intricately detailed with fuel lines and ignition wiring. MPC continues the beautiful detailing in the suspension with the torsion bars and dual shocks. The interior of the muscle car features intricate details, including a push bar and an interior roll cage. Authentic sticker decals are included in the packaging and add the final finishing touches to the perfect replica of Bo and Luke Duke's favorite car. There is even a Confederate flag included in the decal sheet that is designed to be applied to the roof of the replica just like the on the original General Lee. In addition, this authentic-looking MPC 1969 Charger replica features hollow vinyl tires, steerable front wheels, a removable hood, and plated parts. Since this model is so much like the original, it is a must-have for all fans of "The Dukes of Hazzard." You can use plastic cement or glue to bind the different parts together when you're assembling this model car. To get the best effect from your replica kit, you'll want to paint the plain white model. The colors that you'll want to use to deck out the General Lee include Hemi burnt orange, black, chrome, white, and tan. If you want to get creative, you can redesign the kit with whatever colors you like most. When the assembly is complete, the General Lee replica 1/16 scale will measure about 8 1/4 inches long. Since the replica kit only weighs about 9 ounces, it will look great on a shelf, a bookcase, or anywhere else you proudly want to display a General Lee 1969 Charger replica. All of the intricate parts move, and you can pop the hood on the Charger. This makes the model like having a mini car show right in your own living room. Get a reminder of your favorite TV show from childhood when you build and display this replica hot rod in your home. Every time you sneak a peek of "The Dukes of Hazzard" General Lee Charger, you'll be transported to a time when Luke and Bo's antics in Hazzard County were the best part of your day.

  • MPC 1/16 scale General Lee

Round 2 models has been knocking it out of the park of late, reissuing model kits that for decades were nothing but memories for those of us of a certain age, growing up during the 70s and 80s which were arguably the golden age of modeling. Through older eyes (and higher skill sets!) the kits may or may not have aged well depending on your outlook or what you're used to; anyone who's built anything from Japan (Tamiya, Aoshima et al) will be disappointed with the sometimes iffy parts fit, copious amounts of flash and occasionally vague directions. To be fair some of these kits are going on 40 years old with not much maintenance on the molds, however if you want to relive your youth and go back in time to build something from the past with modern glues, paints and materials you can't go wrong with anything from them. The General Lee is a perfect example of this, originally released as a stock car kit the General was created by tooling up an accurate '69 Charger body, adding it and the requisite decal sheet and wheels and calling it a day. And to represent the most famous car on tv it does a fairly good job, the body is straight and clean, with barely there flash, the chassis and interior have a full roll cage which isn't entirely accurate; to build a screen correct car you have to get creative with the cage but the end result has nice detail. The engine has full wiring and plumbing, it even has piston detail in the engine block and valvetrain detail in the cylinder heads so if a diorama of the Duke boys rebuilding the engine is part of your plans it would be possible and look great! The instructions are a direct reprint from the original and as such can be vague or just not helpful, this is where your talent gained from many years of building models can really help. The recent controversy surrounding the flag has driven these kits off the market, they aren't even being made anymore so if you're a fan even if you're not going to build it this is worth getting, before long even being able to buy them will be impossible since the supply will dry up. So to sum up: BUY ONE! Better yet, buy two! While you still can!

I love this Model Kit. I really don't understand why you want it returned. It's just like the TV Show car and it's cool for that series. That's why I like it. The show was fun for my Dad and i back then....A+

As a Dukes fan growing up I can remember watching the TV SHOW when they were not reruns and this model and other Duke related models bring me back to a time in my life that was so much simpler. Absolutely love it and recommend it. Thank you.

  • Dukes of Hazzard 1/16 Model Rocks

This kit was a very challenging one, but in the end all the pieces fit well and the detail was pretty amazing. There are even a few left over pieces and the decals worked perfectly. Nice kit all the way.
