Top notch dramatic series
I was only eight years old when the series made its debut. Over the years, I had never seen an
episode although like most of the public, I was aware of the popularity of the show. After recently watching a 1962 episode of "What's My Line" featuring Richard Chamberlain and
Raymond Massey as mystery guests, I decided to purchase the series. The disks have excellent audio and video quality and I am able to view the discs on my DVD player without issue. In 1961, Richard Chamberlain was fairly inexperienced, yet he projects concern, candor,
sensitivity, and intelligence in his performance. Raymond Massey in the role of his mentor is exceptional. I enjoy seeing the two main characters perform their duties in heroic fashion.
The episodes usually feature a message, but they don't come across as self-righteous. Seeing the many famous guest stars is a delight, but it's the performance of Doctors Kildare and Gillespie that draw me strongly to the show.
