This Aico Carbon Monoxide Alarm EI208 provides 10 years protection against the hazards of carbon monoxide fumes in the home or business premises. It is powered by a lithium battery that is sealed into the unit and has a high performance electro chemical sensor to detect carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. The alarm can be fixed to ceilings or walls and has a test button to check all features.

Well made, good value overall
Well made and easy to install. Ten year life-of-product fixed battery (non-user installable/removable) = GOOD. So an install and forget alarm? Not quite. The instructions say that it is to be tested weekly, so there is that for consideration when installing. Also the pre-alarm red light which detects rising levels (which do not trigger the sound alarm), has a fairly complex table to memorise if you pay attention to it. So you will probably want to keep the booklet handy in case it does flash when it catches a whiff of the barbecue. Also the red light indicates a 'memory of recent high levels of CO' by a set of coded light flashes, so you are going to need a three-digit IQ to master all this. Keep the booklet nearby for handy reference. Not having a digital CO level display keeps the cost down but I do miss it. But good value overall.

Easy to install sealed battery ten years before you need to replace the complete unit. Looks good and does a very very important job. I have installed mine outside my boiler house door and in my static caravan.

Fit it as forget
10 years is a nice long life cycle for the unit. No indication the alarm is working other units I have had flash once a minute. The fixing of the alarm into the base unit on the ceiling is a little strange. unsure now or if I will never be able to take it down.

Exactly as described and good quality
Exactly as described, and easily tested. 10 year life without changing batteries is very convenient. Other than testing, you won't know if it is working until the real thing! This isn't the cheapest, but with such a long lifespan, a few pounds either way is insignificant.

Alco Carbon Monoxide Alarm purchase.
