Comprehensive, handy size and very useful.
My book measures 5" x 8" and has 288 pages which feature all British birds. Each bird has a colour photo accompanied by text which gives a detailed description of the bird throughout the year. This includes colour, appearance of the young and sexes and the birds' habits. Each bird also has a map of the UK showing UK distribution. This book is ideal for those who want to quickly identify a bird they see, especially people like me who are not experts but enthusiastic amateurs. It's ideal for children too as they can quickly learn to recognise birds with this guide. The dust cover of my book arrived with a tough, clear plastic cover which is a bonus and very useful when I take the book out and about. The previous owner (who received the book on his 10th birthday he tells me on the flyleaf) has ticked various species throughout the book but that's no problem to me. If I wanted a book in pristine condition I'd have bought a new one - but then I wouldn't have had the plastic cover. Good book
