I have been a fan of Carole ever since 'Tapestry.' From the very first track I could hear the unmistakable sound of 'Tapestry.' On 'Tapestry' Carole sang "my life has been a tapestry of rich and many hues." This album is a "tapestry of rich and many hues." Every aspect of the holidays are covered. There are standards: 'Sleigh Ride'-'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'; religious: 'Do You Hear What I Hear'; contemporary: 'This Christmas'; outside the box: Irving Berlin/ 'I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm; Chanukah Prayer (sung in Hebrew, Carole is Jewish Klein being her family name); 'New Year's Day'. Carol's daughter Louise produced the album and contributed three new songs: 'Christmas In Paradise' with a Latin beat and some lyrics in Spanish; 'Christmas In The Air' a real toe tapper; the already mentioned 'New Year's Day' a reflective ballad with a message of hope. A must for fans of Carole and if you are looking for something a little different and modern. I had no idea this existed(it was released in 2011) and found it while looking through Carole King compilation recordings. I am very glad I found it.
Holiday classics with that special Carole King touch.
If Carole King's Christmas CD isn't a classic, I'm sure it soon will be. Great interpretations of various holiday songs. A great CD. I enjoyed listening to every track.
