Ryan and Tatum O'neal were the perfect pair for this plot. Clearly, the director had his vision and stuck with it to achieve a really memorable movie experience.

A true gem from the past!
Loved this movie in the 70's & it's still just as funny, but also poignant. Underneath the comedy is the story of a child tough on the outside but vulnerable inside. Well deserved Oscar for Tatum- but it should've been for best actress, not supporting actress. She was the star. She made this film so wonderful to watch. So gifted. So natural.

If you haven't seen this one you should get it.
Surprise. It is black and white. On purpose. it was prohibition and that dude was a con man. He teaches his daughter to do cons and she was better at it than he was. Great art and costuming. Funny and compelling at the same time. It was listed as an epic . That is why I found out about it.
