Lightweight shirt for my dog
I have a 8 lb yorkie. I ordered the x-small thundershirt and it fits him nicely. I must say he loves his shirt. I did get it in time for the 4th of July. Perfect time to try this thundershirt out. When the fire works started he jumped out of bed and began his barking and running. That's what reminded me to put the shirt on him. As soon as I put it on him he got back in bed with me and went to sleep. First time ever he didn't bark all night with fireworks going on. I have tried it on other occasions, like when I know company is coming. The shirt didn't do the job. But he is a yorkie and he gets so excited when someone comes to visit. It's not a miracle shirt, but it does really help for some occasions. He loves wearing the shirt and he looks so handsome in it. I also think it will help keep him warm during the winter time. Good quality shirt
This vest does seem to have a calming effect on my dog. It washes up nicely and when I accidentally put it in the dryer, I was so relieved to see that it hadn't shrunk. So, it does seem easy to maintain and keep clean in the washer, without losing it's shape. The one concern I have with it though, is the Velcro. I noticed my dog licking and scratching at her neck and tummy. When I looked at them closer, I realized that in places around the neck and tummy, the Velcro was scratching against her skin and irritating it. I felt SO bad, that this was happening to her when I put the vest on her and she couldn't tell me and suffered by continuously scratching herself. She is a Chihuahua and thunder storms, vacuum cleaners, blow dryers or pretty much any loud noise, makes her anxious and nervous and the vest does seem to provide her with some relief. I didn't want to just throw it away, so, I trimmed the Velcro back as far as I could. Daisy had worn clothes since I brought her home at 10 weeks, so, thankfully, she was accustomed to them. I put one of her shirts on underneath the vest and this, along with trimming the Velcro back on the vest, has made it comfortable for her when she needs her vest now. If you don't put clothes on your dog or cat, just trimming the Velcro edges back on the vest may be helpful if your baby is being irritated by any areas where the vest touches the skin. mini-schnauzer with attitude of 60# dog
Our grand-dog is a lovely baby, however she will get hyped up at almost anything. As a loving grandma, looking to calm the baby down decided to give the thunder shirt a shot. She has only had it a couple weeks and just getting used to wearing. Simple solution to relax an dog with anxiety
I discovered my Yorkie pooch has severe separation anxiety and has scratched my doors so much her paws were bruised and bleeding. I noticed a young lady with a dog which had on the same Thundershirt. I asked would she suggest the item for my dog, she replied highly suggesting the purchase. With that said, I decided to give it a try in an effort to help relax my dog when I have to leave her in the house. It works.. just not on my dog.
S.O. saw it do wonders on the neighbors cat. It looked promising but my chihuahua is just that, a chihuahua with problems. I noticed a small difference in her. A slight calmness but not for long. Keeps the Dog Calm!
My dog gets a little stressed with the fireworks going off around us so I bought him the Thunder Shirt. He is wearing it right now and it is keeping him calm and also keeps him from barking every time he hears a pop!! Great product. Not what I thought it would be
I put this on my dog to calm her down when strangers come around or she sees another dog. She is a chihuahua so she's very agitated alot, especially at strangers, so I thought putting on this shirt would at least calm her down some. I don't see any difference. I haven't tried it during thunderstorms yet to see how she reacts, since she is terrified of thunder and heavy rains. Love it!!
When I ordered this I was skeptical about buying it. I've seen it on TV and seen post about it and I thought no it's not gonna work. Well I found a good deal on eBay and I gave in and bought it. Its the best purchase I have made for my fur baby. It's not even the 4th yet and fireworks are going off constantly. The min she hears the first pop she's shakes like crazy of fear. I put the shirt on her and it eases her anxiety fast. It doesn't completely take away her shaking of fear, but her shaking without the shirt vs with it on is a 95% difference. After a few mins she sometimes stops shaking cause she's too busy trying to shake the shirt off lol...I think it distracts her. So I love it. Good product that doesn't fit my dog well in front strap area
My minpin/chihuahua doesn't be comfortable where it straps across the front of his chest...it tends to ride up and choke his throat. I am sure it is a design thing.
