Title: Directing Film: The Directors Art from Script to Cutting Room Item Condition: used item in a good condition. Book Details. Edition: - List Price: -.
Essential reading for film students, enthusaists and Ken Russell fans.
Easily the best, most accessible book written about film making from a Director/Producer point of view. Witty, rude and informative! Ken Russell is outspoken but was a brilliant film maker, if somewhat controversial and, in his later years, almost unbankable. Not the big budget Hollywood approach, rather the cottage industry British way.
A very entertaining and easy read. I used to teach at the London Film Academy and this book was essential reading for my students.
During a screening of The Devils in Keswick I met Mr Russell a couple of years before his death. He was charming and outwardly eccentric, yet friendly. He was good enough to sign my copy of this book.
You might not like his films but this book, I believe, is an absolute must for anyone trying to get into the Film Industry as it gives a potted insight into the trials and tribulations involved, from the pitch through principal photography right on to completion and distribution.
