SynopsisPartners in the Los Angeles Police Department, they're haunted by terrifying dark secrets of the nightwatch- shared predawn drink and sex sessions they call choir practice. Each wears his cynicism like a bulletproof jockstrap- each has his horror story, his bad dream, his night shriek. He is afraid of his friends- he is afraid of himself. "From the Trade Paperback edition."
Wambaugh is a great author. This book was written in the 70's before political correctness took over literature. The content is raw from both a sexual point and from the characterizations of ethnic groups.
Details the pressures of police work in an urban environment, and the hazards of the trade to include the high suicide rate within our law enforcement forces.
Compelling characters.
If one likes Wambaugh, I recommend "The Onion Field" which is a true police drama.
