Product Information

Caligula is a 1979 drama that stars actors Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, and Peter O'Toole. The film is a cinematic depiction of Rome under Caligula's rule. The film was famously chaotic during production since it's directors and producers clashed constantly. The film was edited several times and cut with outside material which left the film weak with plot and ambition. The result is a hodgepodge of movie material, which is the reason for the three discs in the Imperial Edition. Disc one includes the theatrical cut of the film, disc two includes alternate and deleted scenes as well as commentary, while disc three is bonus material and a making of documentary.

    Glad I bought it.

    For what it is, I found it entertaining. I bought this as a replacement for the original VHS one from the 70's I had lost. This is better with the enhancements for the DVD. The extra features are nice, but really not necessary. Overall, I'm glad I bought it. The pornographic component doesn't bother me. But, it is there.

    A Part Of History

    This reflects the reign of Caligula and his power over Rome. A very powerful Roman and the details of his insanity, as told by this historic movie. All in all, a very powerful film. Well worth watching this wonderful story of one man's power.

    Good movie

    Not for the younger folks due to the heavy pornographic scenes, nevertheless it's a great movie that is true to the history of Caligula's psychotic perverted reign.
