One of the best "bad" movies ever made
The story is in itself really lame. But the movie is SO bad that that is its redeeming quality. I remember way back when watching it on HBO and i couldnt understand the story. I bought this to see if i somehow could grasp it and yea, after watching it 30 times I "understand" it... Basiclly " Boy comes of age, His Dad is murdered and said boy takes revenge.. Classic story , Epic movie Failure... So if you got too you got too. I promise you wont be dissapointed unless you are expecting an epic science fiction movie classic. Buy it . watch it . then flush the memory of it down the toilet !!

Dune
An engaging story and esoteric screenplay from David Lynch. Sting plays a small role in this movie but his acting is quite entertaining. Many will shrug this move off because it's too "left of center" for their tastes but It's a Sci-Fi classic in my opinion.

A Cinematic Spectacle!
This is a Movie Classic. Another amazing and great production by the legendary Dino de Laurentiis. The effects and sets were ahead of their time, and although Frank Herbert's monumental novel would take many movies to portray properly, this movie is quite compelling in its own right. The soundtrack really works well, including other-wordly themes by Brian Eno. Top actors include Patrick Stewart, Jose Ferrer and Kyle MacLachlan. Seeing it in Blu-ray really brings you into the story!

Buy the books instead.
The story is told in the third person with total breaks between scraps of narrative, sprinkled liberally with small sets of action, as in a play. There is no continuity, no chance to empathize with the protagonist, nor any other character. I loved the books, but this movie really does them an injustice.

Decent Blu-Ray transfer
Definitely an upgrade from the grainy, dark DVD version. There are visuals I'd never noticed in some scenes. A must-own for sci-fi fans as well as fans of the Frank Herbert novel.

Magnificently Epic!
Stunning, all star cast, excellent special effects and artistry. If you read the book this movie would be awesome for you. If you didnt read the book you may be a little lost but still be amazed.

Good price but weak packaging
Fortunately the blue ray disk is ok but the case was crushed and cracked inside a bubble envelope. Needs better protection

Great Experience
I loved the lighting and special affects along with the plot. The movie had a surreal atmosphere about it.
