Reviews"...makes for a most interesting read and provides a good look at these two important early war designs. It is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading and I'm sure you will as well. Like all Osprey titles it is one that I can easily recommend to you." -Scott Van Aken, Modeling Madness "The author uses first-hand accounts from a number of British and German aces to describe various combat situations, which puts the human element into the FIGHTING OR WAR. He discusses the statistics and analysis, and includes Kill Charts for the Ace Pilots of the Hurricane 1 and Bf110. This is a well written book containing much interesting information together with full-color illustrations and period photographs throughout. This is a book that air enthusiasts will enjoy." -www.mataka.org, January 2011, "The author uses first-hand accounts from a number of British and German aces to describe various combat situations, which puts the human element into the FIGHTING OR WAR. The photographs and drawings are a good resource for modeling and possible dioramas. It could be an inexpensive and valuable addition to any book collection on WWII aircraft. It is easy for me to give this book a 'Must Have' rating." -- Perry Downen, IPMS/USA "...makes for a most interesting read and provides a good look at these two important early war designs. SynopsisThe Hurricane was the RAF's first monoplane fighter and saw significant combat during the fight over France and the Battle of Britain. One of its principal opponents in 1940 was the Bf 110 twin-engined, two-seat heavy fighter. Following the invasion of France, these fighters clashed regularly as the RAF's Hurricanes attacked German bomber formations defended by Bf 110. Although the Hurricane had the upper hand when it came to maneuverability, the Bf 110 outclassed it in terms of fire power, with its mix of machine guns and cannon. This is the story of the dramatic battles in the skies over France and the Channel as Britain desperately tried to hold back the German onslaught from her shores.
