"[A] funny-to-the-bone Southern novel…Incredibly entertaining."- The State (Columbia, SC) "Pawleys Island is imbued with a vivid sense of place that is so appealing that readers may want to pack up the book and head to the Carolina coast."- The Boston Globe "A great summer read as could only be written by a Southern belle."- The Sunday Oklahoman "An endearing look at hope and friendship...Take it to the beach."- The Tennessean "Fans of author Dorothea Benton Frank will love [this] novel…The book is humorous, the customs are generations old, the characters are ones the reader wants to be around, and the locale fits them perfectly."- The Charlotte Observer "Frank's absorbing narrative manages to feel both authentically Southern and universally empathetic."- Publishers Weekly "Shifting first-person narratives invite you into this charming southern isle that, behind its decorum, is the kind of place that you don't go unless you want your life shaken and stirred…Compulsively readable…Will appeal to fans of both Fannie Flagg and Larry McMurtry's Terms of Endearment. A true southern comfort."- Booklist "Frank weaves history and legends of ghosts into her narrative as she depicts the charms of her coastal setting. Delivered in a conversational style and told from several points of view, Frank's lyrical prose is reminiscent of fellow Southern writers Pat Conroy and Anne Rivers Siddons. Her characters are vibrant and captivating [and] the story is told with humor."- The Tennessean "Her Lowcountry Tales share a winning pop-fiction recipe: Mixing comedy, romance and quaint local color in a flavor that's saucier, and just a tad saltier, than Jan Karon's Mitford series…Fans won''t be disappointed."- Star News "Pawleys Island is imbued with a vivid sense of place that is so appealing that readers may want to pack up the book and head to the Carolina coast…A leisurely novel peopled by likeable characters, as well as one over-the-top villain. It''s perfect beach reading."- The Boston Globe "Pawleys Island provides wisdom, comedy, mystery, romance. But I swear this is more than a beach book. It is incredibly entertaining while not neglecting its lessons on friendship and personal struggles …Her love for the Lowcountry offers a true representation of life along the coast."- The State (Columbia, SC), "[A] funny-to-the-bone Southern novel…Incredibly entertaining."- The State (Columbia, SC) "Pawleys Island is imbued with a vivid sense of place that is so appealing that readers may want to pack up the book and head to the Carolina coast."- The Boston Globe "A great summer read as could only be written by a Southern belle."- The Sunday Oklahoman "An endearing look at hope and friendship...Take it to the beach."- The Tennessean "Fans of author Dorothea Benton Frank will love [this] novel…The book is humorous, the customs are generations old, the characters are ones the reader wants to be around, and the locale fits them perfectly."- The Charlotte Observer "Frank's absorbing narrative manages to feel both authentically Southern and universally empathetic."- Publishers Weekly "Shifting first-person narratives invite you into this charming southern isle that, behind its decorum, is the kind of place that you don't go unless you want your life shaken and stirred…Compulsively readable…Will appeal to fans of both Fannie Flagg and Larry McMurtry's Terms of Endearment. Synopsis
When Becca Sims wanders into the beautiful seaside Gallery Valentine hoping to sell some of her water-colors, she has no idea her life is about to be transformed by the gallery's owner and his best friend. With vivid, unforgettable characters, dreamy Lowcountry settings, and the authentically brazen, compulsively readable Southern voice that have made her one of today's greatest storytellers, Dorothea Benton Frank delivers her most extraordinary novel yet., Dorothea Benton Frank presents a refreshingly honest and funny novel about friendship, family, and finding happiness by becoming who you're meant to be. Catapulted from her home, her marriage and her children, artist Rebecca Simms has come to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, to hide herself from herself. Little does she know that on this "arrogantly shabby" family playground, she'll encounter three people who will change her life: a wise and irresistible octogenarian who will pry her secrets from her, a gallery owner who caters to interior decorators and heaven save us, tourists, and a retired attorney from Columbia who's complacent in her fat and sassy life until Rebecca's stormy advent..., The latest Lowcountry novel from the "New York Times" bestselling author of "Shem Creek." When Becca Sims wanders into the beautiful seaside Gallery Valentine, she has no idea her life is about to be transformed.

- 7***j (832)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufI recently purchased an item from this eBay seller, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the prompt communication to the fast shipping, everything was handled with utmost professionalism. The item arrived exactly as described and was well-packaged to ensure its safety during transit. The seller was courteous and responsive, making the entire transaction smooth and hassle-free. I highly recommend this seller to anyone looking for quality products and excellent service.
- e***d (292)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufGreat price for this huge book. Shipping was delayed but not too unreasonable though the book could have been packed a bit better with some bubble wrap as it tore through the very thin mailer envelope. Would recommend seller to cushion heavy books better when using thin mailer envelopes to avoid the tearing and potentially loosing books. Book is as described! Satisfied with my purchase and would buy from again if packaging was more sturdy. Thank you :)
- p***r (145)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufAs described ,nice price, quickly shipped but not in a padded envelope, nor with a cardboard padding inside a regular envelope, so corners of book were free to be bumped in transit. They were not. The book looked good even with a tear at one corner of the envelope. Both the seller and the buyer were lucky.Fire - Chihuly, Dale - Very Good - See condition notes (Nr. 167369993381)
