A Sequel That Continues the Story
In some ways I think Frozen 2 is a stronger story than the first. The characters have developed; the sisters in particular have developed more agency. Each of them: Elsa, Anna, Kristof, and Olaf get a chance to show how they have changed - that's one of the themes of the movie, the matter of dealing with change - and what remains constant.
We also get a back story that explains Elsa's powers, and are taken to a beautiful new landscape, the "enchanted forest" and the people who live there. An old wrong threatens the present, and the story turns on finding out what it is and correcting it, despite the cost.
This is not entirely a stand-alone story. It's best seen after seeing "Frozen" and is set several years later than the end of that story. Several of the musical numbers seem a little forced, but others are very powerful, both in terms of what they show about the characters and the themes of the movie.
