The Sony SRF-M97 is a small, portable radio that fits in almost any pocket. It has 15 preset FM stations and five preset AM stations as well as a jog wheel for easy tuning. The SRF-M97 radio has a small LCD backlit digital display for menu options and station identification. This AM, FM radio has a bass boost feature that provides enhanced bass sound at any volume. The frequency tuning range for the Sony SRF-M97 is 76-108 MHz on FM and 530-1710 kHz on AM. It has a worldwide tuning feature with a 9-10 kHz step selection and a DX/LO switch. The SRF-M97 radio has an auto-power feature that turns the radio off after being idle for a set time to conserve the battery. A digital clock is also built-in to this AM, FM radio. The antenna is built into the device as well, to prevent any worries about breaking an external antenna. The Sony SRF-M97 has dimensions of 22.8 mm by 83.8 mm by 38.1 mm and weighs 59.5 g. Great all-round performance for such a small radio
This is a very good little radio, easy to use, with generally good reception via the headphone cable. The large number of preset stations available is also very useful in that tuning is simply a matter of pushing a button. A clip on the rear, allowing attachment to clothing, is a very useful feature, not found on all small radios. I only have a minor issue with the MegaBass function, which is supposed to cut in when a suitable signal is received, and which turns a deep base sound on. On my present new radio (I have also had one before), the extra bass effect is not discernible, whether the feature is turned on or off.
