Honor and integrity in a world of dishonor
A great view of the middle ages and the life that was. It also shows the iron-clad grip the Catholic Church had on the life of ordinary people. The main character is engaging because of the part he plays. He is honest and has integrity. He is forever showing the love of Christ no matter who it may be. He honors his word and is true to himself and the Savior he serves. The show has some English spoken. Arn's story is a sad, but entertaining because it so well directed.
The movie and the series are both included, giving the viewer more entertainment. I prefer to watch the movie in its original language (although English is another option you can select) because it makes the viewing experience more realistic. Thank goodness for subtitles! Arn is one of the many stories of the misguided "soldiers of God" known as Knight Templars, who were commissioned by the Church to go to other lands and fight in their name. Some carried out their missions to the destruction of lands and people while there were a few who came to realize this was an error nothing short of a grave injustice to humanity. Which of these was Arn? Albeit the film supports some historical facts (also relating to Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven), this particular story is not entirely true. Peter Flinth directs Joakim Nätterqvist as Arn magnificently and as always Stellan Skarsgård fits perfectly in his supporting role.
