Oscar-nominated actress Joan Plowright is the titular Mrs. Palfrey in this heartwarming comedy. When an elderly Scottish widow moves to London, she finds the big city less welcoming than she expected. Mrs. Palfrey is disheartened when her nephew doesn't return her calls. But when a young man (Rupert Friend) helps her after a fall, she discovers that the metropolis may not be as lonely as it first appeared. Good movie for its genre.

Mrs. Palfrey at The Claremont is a very heart-warming story.. About a friendship with 20 something young man and an lonely elderly woman , and her family never visits very often.. And all the other characters in the movie are funny & sweet......Joan Plowright is Fantastic in this movie! I have watched this movie several times and never get tired of it.. Great film
Joan Plowwright has one of the great roles of her career as Mrs. Palfrey and she finds a perfect match with the young Rupert Friend (now a regular of "Homeland." This is an engaging, well-written, well-directed and well-acted fillm, a must-see. One of My All-Time Favorite Movies
