Historical significance
The author describes in photo and caption the development of the US Naval Yard over it's 174 year history. Historically significant photos also show the changes to the Boston skyline over the decades. The Naval Yard is still home to the oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy. Although the main function of the yard has ceased, the wooden-hulled former warship is still maintained by the craftsmen and crewmen who continue to make the yard important today.
