Comedic but a bit close to the truth....
Having enjoyed many of author and GP Vernon Coleman's books, but not having read any of the 'Mrs Caldecot' series, I decided to buy the DVD as it had had good reviews when it came out. I was not disappointed! Both my husband and I had had elderly parents who had gone through the 'care home' system at times so we were both able to empathise with the plight of many of the residents, which made Mrs Caldecot's defiance even more enjoyable for us. We loved the film - the cast comprised many well-known and well-loved actors who were perfectly cast for their roles; we particularly loved the real-life husband and wife team of Pauline Collins and John Alderton sparring against one another in the film I would say that this film probably would appeal to a middle-age group rather than for younger people, although it is probably quite educational for those younger to see what the future may hold for their own parents!

Seriously Amusing!
I bought this after watching the film a few months ago. It stuck in my mind because I found it both amusing but also reflecting what has in the past been (or may even still be for all I know) the darker side of both the care home industry in house and those who provide the properties. Forgetting the darker side it is a good romp and at the base root of it is old fashioned good winning over bad - am I allowed to say that these days? It is about people taking on something not right and winning or getting it put right - ultimately it has the feel good factor at the end and I purchased it to watch when I needed reminding of that

Mrs Caldicots Cabbage War. Highly entertaining with Pauline Collins and her humorous asides. Marvellous cast. Many well known and much loved faces.
Delightful story. Pauline Collins at her best,sad,but humorous. One of my favourites.

Very funny but also true
This film is one I saw quite a few years ago I enjoyed it then and did so this time. At eighty years old I can empathise with the characters in the film,the story shows the type of behaviour sometimes aimed at old people who still have a lot to give if they where listened to a bit more

Full of characters to enjoy.
A beguiling film, excellent to watch with family or friends. Beautiful cast and entirely believable, I recommend this highly.

good sunday afternoon watching
pauline collins acting superb as ever, thoroughly enjoyable, perhaps a little to close at what goes on in some care homes!!!!!! a film I would strongly recommend .
