Just a bit player in the 1999's mission-based racing title Driver, the City by the Bay takes on the title role as gamers once again assume control of race car driver-turned-detective John Tanner as he continues to hunt crime boss Charles Jericho in Driver: San Francisco. However, the developers at Ubisoft Reflections have included a plot twist that throws the series on its ear: the entire game takes place in the fevered dreams of a comatose John Tanner.<br><br>The resulting freedom of movement allows for the aptly named "Shift" mechanic, which lets players exit their current vehicle, float above the scene, and switch to other cars in real time. Gamers can use this feature for any number of purposes, such as jumping from a pursuit vehicle into an oncoming car to cause a head-on collision, or making a 90-degree turn at full speed by simply shifting into a car heading in a perpendicular direction.<br><br>Driver: San Francisco makes several more departures from series tradition, beginning with the inclusion of more than 100 licensed vehicles inspired by classic Hollywood films like Bullitt and Vanishing Point. Gamers can speed around more than 200 miles of Bay-area streets in Alfa Romeos, Aston Martins, and even DeLoreans, but they can't get out of the car and run along the road, as was the case in some previous entries in the series.<br><br>And for the first time in a Driver game, players can head online for nine different modes of multiplayer competition. Driver: San Francisco also supports local split-screen multiplayer action, and the "Movie Maker" mode returns, allowing gamers to record car chases with Hollywood-style visual effects, and then upload them online.

    Finally arrived , Shipping was horrible, but not the fault of the seller. Purchased May 9th, arrived today 5/21/25 and we aren't that far apart. USPS has gone to hell.     Item was fantastic. The price was just perfect. Everything was packed tight. Exactly as seller described. Now this is in relation to shipping. Seller is aware it takes a long time for USPS ground advantage. I had to wait a long time due to delays that ground can have. To get around this, please consider using Priority mail for larger items. Again, I have no problem. This was well worth what i paid. I would buy from them again and so should you if you are on the fence.

    deserved better

    great game which deserves to have renewed licenses and be relisted. It has an incredible body-swap mechanic which is implemented perfectly with no loading and plenty of unique dialogue for each car you swap into. There's a substantial car list with every car you could imagine, want to drive a firetruck? go for it. would you prefer a ramp truck? you got it. maybe you want to act like normal traffic, well you have plenty of options to accommodate you. Perhaps you want to treat it like a regular racing game, you can do that too with a long list of super, hyper, and sports cars

    My favorite split-screen pastime!

    As a car guy, I'm always playing Forza. But back in 2011, a little known game released on Xbox360 called Driver: San Francisco. While the handling and game modes are significantly more "arcadey" than Forza, it is a delight to pop in and play; especially for couch co-op. There is a wide variety of licensed cars from all different time periods, and each one looks, sounds, and handles in it's own unique way. The crash damage is spectacular, the police AI is extremely formidable and reckless (think GTA5), and the game modes are a hoot and a holler. My only real critique is the single player campaign. It's a chore to play, with bad voice acting and predictable and boring plot. The multiplayer servers are surprisingly still up at the time of this review (3/11/2022), but they're empty. You will ...

    One of the best of the Xbox 360 era

    What to say, the game is incredible. I played it on my Xbox Series X and it looks fantastic. You won't find a game with a better game mechanic, the shift, which, by combining gameplay and story, makes the game flow very naturally. 100% recommend.

    I'm good with this!

    I loved the feel of the 1st Driver game & I remember disliking the gameplay of Driv3r's "ghosting", preferring pure driving. But, with so many more immersive games that are out, this retro upgrade's more fun than I originally thought!

    Let's go Mr. Driver!

    This game is just as awesome as it EVER was. The graphics were waaay ahead of the game's time. I am highly delighted that I got this game. Gotta go now. It's time to play.
