I use this at work with cognitive therapy - pls read review easier to understand
I work as a speech therapist in a long term care nursing home for senior citizens, most of whom have dementia, forgotten math skills, poor attention span. Many have poor vision or lost their eyeglasses when they came from the hospital, poor fine motor co-ordination, an arm with deficits, minimum speech skills, ...This is one game that most can see and play, with very simple rules, and requires very little skill. It's a hit, even with the least motivated patients.
And, would be a great game for little children learning to count. The box suggests age 8 and up. Would probably function with younger children who can count up to 12 (as 6 +6, 7+5, ...) I did a little Google research and if correct, game invented in France, approx. 400 years ago with only one line of numbers.
If you are going to purchase a Shut The Box game, recommend double lines of numbers like this one has because it is so easily mastered.
The loose parts are 2 dice, easily replaced if lost, everything else is attached to the box.
Should have bought one sooner!
