The pipe heaters did their job
I tie wrapped the pipe heater to my copper water pipe and plugged it in. I had to swap out the electrical outlet for a GFCI type outlet. I plugged it in and after a couple of minutes I could tell it was getting warm. Within a couple of days the temperature got down to 18F and I had no frozen pipe. Seems to work really well. I'm happy to have found these as I have had to fix this plumbing a few times before.

Does not work
I just bought this in October I never tried to use till last night !! Thing does nothing !! I checked breaker and it works fine. Just a bad unit I suppose,but hey its 24 outside

heat tape
This one is a spare. my old one is still working Wrapped around a 5 gal bucket of water in my goat shed. The 5 gal bucket is inside a larger bucket which protects the heat tape. Its been down to 5 degrees and still no ice

Heater for out door pipe
I've got a well outside all most every time it gets to about 25 degrees my well pies freeze and I'm out of water for about 4 to 6 hours
